Why so much suffering?
Each day, we see suffering in the news and in those around us. Many people face hunger, grief, or fear. Many people are searching for meaning and hope but don’t know where to look. There are answers out there; there always have been. You just have to know where to look.

The World Faces Deep Trouble
You look around and see a world struggling with problems on every side. The news brings stories of war, injustice, poverty, and fading values. Many people feel unsettled, wondering why things have reached such a troubled point or what the future holds. Some point fingers at politicians, others fault the economy, while many have given up hope for real change. People often settle for the reason that fits what they already believe. Still, the real cause is plain to see in the Bible.
Where the Trouble Begins
The Bible explains why pain and hardship are so common.
“Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all people because they had all sinned.”
(Romans 5:12)
This verse highlights human weakness and wrongdoing as the source of our suffering. No government, scientific progress, or new law can erase this deep problem.
The Answer That Lasts
Many turn to philosophy, money, or science, hoping for relief. But the Bible points to a true solution—God’s Kingdom.
“The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”
(Daniel 2:44)
God’s rule promises to clear away what’s wrong and bring lasting peace to the world.
What You Can Do
Human ideas change all the time, but God’s guidance stays steady. Instead of looking to people’s plans, look to what the Bible says.
“Your word is a lamp to my foot and a light to my roadway.”
(Psalm 119:105)
When you read the Bible, you find hope and a sense of direction. God’s promises offer a future you can rely on.
Things may seem dark, but the Bible holds answers you can trust. If you put your faith in God’s plan, you find the only real hope for a better life.
The Bible’s View on Suffering and Evil
The Bible speaks honestly about pain and sorrow. In Ecclesiastes, you read:
“Man has dominated man to his harm.”
(Ecclesiastes 8:9)
You see the proof in the news every day—bad leadership and greedy rulers cause real pain. Throughout history, people have used power in ways that hurt their fellow man.
“Time and unexpected events overtake them all.”
(Ecclesiastes 9:11)
Anyone can face trouble at any moment. Accidents, sickness, or disaster can strike no matter who you are or where you live.
“Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin.”
(Romans 5:12)
At first, people lived without fault or death. Everything changed when the first people broke God’s law. From then on, everyone has felt the painful results.
The Bible does more than tell you why bad things happen. It gives a promise for the future. In Revelation, you find this hope:
“He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”
(Revelation 21:3, 4)
God promises to end pain and sadness. There is a time ahead with no more tears, grief, or death. These words offer comfort, reminding you that pain doesn’t have the final say.
