Why are we here?

the earth—God’s gift to us

Almost 2,024 years have passed, and a growing number of people, who would typically dismiss prophecies of doom, are beginning to wonder if a world-altering event may be on the horizon.

One prophecy that most people ignore but is increasingly mentioned today is that planet Earth is destined for complete destruction, whether in the near or distant future.

Let’s explore a couple of these ominous predictions:

A New Era Dawns?

Many people are increasingly worried about the long-term future of our planet, and yet few are doing very little to change it. The fact is, they can’t—government after government has made, and is making, feeble attempts, accompanied with ‘false promises’ that they will solve all our problems!

Here we are, over two thousand years in, and still things haven’t gotten any better; in fact, they are getting worse!

A recurring Bible prediction that has gained traction recently suggests that at some time—be it sooner or later—Earth may face total annihilation. Take note of a few of these bleak predictions:

Particularly striking are the numerous Bible prophecies concerning Jesus Christ:

“The odds of all these prophecies being fulfilled in one individual are so astronomically low that it is clear they could not possibly be the clever guesses of human beings.”

—Professor J. P. Free

The fulfilment of many of these prophecies was entirely beyond Jesus’ control. For example:

  • He could not have arranged to be born of the tribe of Judah or as a descendant of David (Genesis 49:10; Isaiah 9:6, 7; 11:1, 10; Matthew 1:2-16).
  • Nor could He have orchestrated the events that led to his birth in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-7).
  • He could not have arranged to be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12; Matthew 26:15).
  • How He would be spat upon by his enemies (Isaiah 50:6; Matthew 26:67),
  • How He would be reviled while hanging on the execution stake (Psalm 22:7, 8; Matthew 27:39-43),
  • How He would be pierced without a bone in his body being broken (Zechariah 12:10; Psalm 34:20; John 19:33-37),
  • Or how soldiers were to cast lots for his garments (Psalm 22:18; Matthew 27:35).

These are just a few of the many prophecies fulfilled in the person of Jesus.

what’s the bible’s view?

The planet is becoming a more dangerous environment for humans to live in as injustices, crime, and war continue to rise throughout the world.
