A Government For Freedom
God’s Preparation of a Government for Humanity
For nearly two thousand years, Jehovah God has patiently prepared a government to bring hope and relief to all people struggling under the weight of sin and death. Over the centuries, he has chosen from among us those who would serve as rulers in that government, gathering them all under the leadership of his Son. Their future is a resurrection to immortal life in heaven as king-priests. Together with Jesus, they will share the benefits of his sacrifice and offer freedom from sin and death. Those alive today, as well as the billions who have died, will experience the blessings brought through their loving service and restoration to life.
Why We Trust the Government God Has Chosen
We live in a world marked by disappointment in government promises and leadership. Too often, rulers gain power based on status, family, military strength, or wealth. Even the most capable often go unnoticed unless they have strong political backing or wealthy supporters. History shows that people have failed to build a system where those chosen cannot be bribed, swayed, or corrupted.
God’s Standards for Rulers
The way God chooses those to rule in his kingdom is nothing like how authorities are appointed on earth. Money, education and fame hold no sway with him. No one can campaign for a spot in this government, nor buy their way in. Each person must be tested. God looks for those whose integrity stands firm under pressure—those who truly place others’ needs ahead of their own. Only he, who sees the heart, decides who is qualified.
Look at how Jesus, the leader of this government, faced his own test. As God’s only-begotten Son, he had everything in the heavens, yet willingly gave it up to become a man. He chose a life of poverty and hardship. He obeyed God even in the most difficult situations. He suffered rejection, pain, and died in disgrace, executed as if he were a criminal. What he went through on earth helps him understand our struggles. He shows real compassion because he has lived through suffering himself.
Jesus didn’t just talk about helping others—he acted. He cared deeply for people, responding with kindness and practical help. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, helped those who couldn’t walk, brought food to the hungry, and even raised the dead. His acts were seen by eyewitnesses and prove that he has both the compassion and power to solve our hardest problems.
Those chosen to rule with Jesus aren’t like the leaders who promise change but let us down after gaining power. The Bible describes them as honest and blameless, speaking only the truth. Like Jesus, they show love and a willingness to put others’ needs first, even to the point of sacrifice.
Rulers Who Understand Our Struggles
Over the past nineteen centuries, God has selected people from every background and walk of life. They have faced the same troubles we do: insults, unfairness, hatred, and even violent death. They have known what it is to be weak, and yet have held on to God’s approval. With this real-life experience, they understand the challenges we face and can offer genuine care.
As immortal spirits, these king-priests will always be available to help. Their work will never be cut short by death. There will be time enough—one thousand years—to guide all of us to perfection.
God’s Word says that Jesus and his king-priests will use loyal people on earth to assist them in their work. These helpers will not be prideful or self-seeking. Just as Jesus was loving and selfless, he would never appoint anyone with selfish motives. His standard is like that of ancient King David, who refused to tolerate arrogance and valued integrity and trustworthiness in his companions.
Lasting Freedom from Life’s Hardships
The qualities of Jesus, his ruling associates, and their earthly helpers give us certainty that everyone who loves what is right will be looked after. Greed and unfair trading will not flourish in this new system. Fair access to food and basics will be the norm, not just for a few, but for everyone. The Bible describes the coming abundance as a feast for all, with the best foods and drinks.
When it comes to the environment, Jesus was with God during the creation of the earth and knows how to care for our planet. As King, he can guide us in keeping the earth clean and productive, preventing pollution and waste. He will help us care for the land, turning it into a paradise where everything thrives.
Family troubles and hurts caused by human imperfection will also be put right. Jesus and his king-priests will help us grow to perfection, removing problems such as old age, sickness, and even death. Through his kingdom, God will take away mourning, pain, and every tear from our eyes.
No one will need to fear crime, war, or injustice ever again. All will learn the ways of peace. Jesus will make fair decisions, never judging by outward appearances or rumours. He will protect the powerless and deal kindly with those in need.
Work will become something we can take pride in, free from the stress and letdowns common today. We will enjoy the fruits of our own work, building and planting for ourselves without fear of loss. The prophet’s words make it clear—no honest effort will be wasted, and our lives will be as lasting and satisfying as the life of a sturdy tree.

The Only Real Solution
God’s kingdom under Christ is the only true answer to humanity’s problems. It alone will bring lasting peace, safety, and fairness to everyone. The promise stands—one day soon, this heavenly rule will take charge over all the earth’s affairs and bring about the relief we all long for.
