War - the bibles view

war—the Bible’s view

Now is the time to defuse and de-escalate. Now is the time for maximum restraint,” said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in response to Iran’s direct attack on Israel on 13 April 2024.

The violence in the Middle East reflects a broader global crisis.

“The world is facing the highest number of violent conflicts since the Second World War, with 2 billion people—a quarter of humanity—living in affected areas.”United Nations Security Council, 26 January 2023.

Regions embroiled in war include Israel, Gaza, Syria, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Sudan, Ethiopia, Niger, Myanmar, and Haiti.

When will the bloodshed end? Can world leaders bring lasting peace? What does the Bible say?

A World at War

Today’s conflicts signal that the end of all wars is near. These events align with Bible prophecy about our era—a period Scripture calls,

“. . . . the conclusion of the system of things.”

Matthew 24:3.

“You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars. . . . Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.”

Matthew 24:6, 7.

A War to End All Wars

The Bible promises an ultimate end to human conflict—not through diplomacy or military victory, but by divine intervention. This final battle, called Armageddon, is described as:

“ . . . . the war of the great day of God the Almighty.”

Revelation 16:14, 16.

It will pave the way for God’s promised era of peace.

Psalm 37:10, 11, 29.
