right screen, wrong film
You walk into the cinema with your snacks and your hopes up. You think you are about to watch a bright, hopeful story, a bit like that one with a lion, a witch, and a wardrobe. You settle into your seat, the lights go down, and the film begins.
Most of us know that sinking feeling when a plan does not match our hope. The cinema is meant to be a treat, a small escape, a place to relax. Now, imagine buying a ticket for a gentle, aspiring film. You expect warmth, kindness, maybe a happy ending. Instead, the story on the screen is violent, cold, or empty.
You sit there confused. You check your ticket. You scan the walls for a sign. Part of you wants to stay and make the best of it, but another part knows it is simply the wrong film. Life can feel like that. People long for peace, love, and fairness, yet the daily news is full of war, hate, and deep injustice. Our hearts say one thing; the world shows another.
The simple lesson: a wrong screen gives a wrong story
If you are in the wrong screen, it doesn’t matter how long you sit there; it will not turn into the film you paid for. The story is set, and it is not the one you chose. In a similar way, many people are sitting inside the wrong world story. No matter how hard they try to fix it by themselves, something still feels off.
Why Life Feels Wrong: This Present World Is Not How God Wants It
The Bible explains that this is not God’s world in its present form. It says that a wicked spirit creature is in charge of the current system.
“We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” ,( 1 John 5:19)
“among whom the god of this system of things, Satan, has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through.” ,( 2 Corinthians 4:4)
This is why the world’s story does not match God’s love, mercy, and justice.
Feeling that life is wrong can be a good wake up call
That nagging sense that life is not how it should be can help you wake up. It is like realising you are in the wrong screen. You do not need to shame yourself for noticing. It is a sign that your heart is still soft and that you care about what is right. The good news is simple. You do not have to stay in Satan’s world. Just as you can stand up, walk out, and find the right cinema screen, you can start moving towards God’s new world.
The Bible promises a time when this old, broken system is gone and there is a new heaven and a new earth, with no more death, tears, or pain. God invites you to learn about that world now, to trust his Son, and to let his story shape your choices.
Next time life feels like the wrong film, remember, you are allowed to leave the wrong screen and walk towards the world God has prepared and watch the right film!
