god promises a paradise

The word paradise means garden or park. It brings to mind the beautiful garden Jehovah God prepared for Adam and Eve. It also points to a future hope for the whole earth.

Jehovah told Isaiah to write about a new paradise for God’s people. He described a world where ‘wolves and lambs live side by side in peace. Calves and young lions feed together, and small children guide them. Even an infant stays safe when playing near a poisonous snake.’

Some people say, ‘That could never happen. Earth has always had trouble, and it always will.’” (Hmmm … I seem to remember them saying that about a certain flood!)

God’s first home for humans showed his purpose. He placed Adam and Eve in a paradise.

They lost that home because they disobeyed God. As a result, they grew old and died. Even so, God promises to restore what obedient people lost, a peaceful life in a paradise home.

In the coming new paradise, nothing will harm or destroy. Instead, peace will cover the earth. People will enjoy good health and real happiness. It will match what God wanted from the start. Later, we will learn how God will make this promise come true.

“The wolf will reside for a while with the lamb, And with the young goat the leopard will lie down, And the calf and the lion and the fattened animal will all be together; And a little boy will lead them. 7 The cow and the bear will feed together, And their young will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the bull. 8 The nursing child will play over the lair of a cobra, And a weaned child will put his hand over the den of a poisonous snake. 9 They will not cause any harm Or any ruin in all my holy mountain, Because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea.”
