ignore the bible at your own risk

Consider this striking experience—a man in New York said, “I used to teach Sunday school in the Presbyterian church. After spending some time studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, I approached my minister with questions about teachings like the Trinity. To my surprise, he couldn’t answer a single one of them from the Bible. He even insisted that God created other humans besides Adam and Eve. I asked him to show me where the Bible says that it is wrong to be gay. Since he didn’t have a Bible with him, I handed him mine. He began flipping through Genesis, clearly lost. When I realised he couldn’t even find the creation account, I told him to turn back a few pages.”

This clergyman could not locate the very first chapters of the Bible — the account of creation itself. If those responsible for teaching others are unfamiliar with the Scriptures, how can they possibly guide their congregations toward genuine, accurate worship?

Many sincere people still lack a clear understanding of who God is and what the future holds for humanity. Without solid answers to their deepest spiritual questions, they are left with confusion and uncertainty. Millions remain trapped by superstitions, rituals, and celebrations that dishonour the Creator. Many also accept ideas such as a fiery hell, a Trinitarian God, or the immortality of the soul—teachings that do not align with the Bible!

False religion misleads many people. Often, religious leaders teach ideas that go against God’s thinking, so people may believe they’re worshipping him while actually displeasing him. Behind this stands Satan, who makes lies look true and uses people who seem upright to spread error.

The Bible treats false religion as dangerous. Under God’s Law, false prophets and anyone pushing false worship faced judgement. Jesus and his apostles gave the same warning. They said false teachers can look harmless, yet they corrupt the truth. So Christians must keep clear of anyone who twists God’s Word.

avoid false religions

Revelation describes false religion as Babylon the Great, a corrupt system tied to the rulers of this world. Rather than staying loyal to God, she has joined political powers and shared blame for bloodshed and persecution. Because of this, God has marked her for destruction. The political powers she trusted will turn on her and bring her to ruin.

That’s why God’s people must leave false religion without delay. Anyone who wants God’s approval must separate from it fully. Jesus made clear that not everyone claiming to follow him has his approval.

Keeping clear of false worship means rejecting its teachings and refusing to support it in any form. That includes messages, activities, and organisations. If someone wants to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, they must break all ties with their former religion and make that clear by their actions.

Still, Christians don’t cut themselves off from everyone of another faith. They love their neighbour and share the good news kindly and respectfully. At the same time, they stay separate from the world’s attitudes and from close ties that could weaken their faith.
