nothing but false promises

History tells a clear story…. no human government has ever fulfilled its promises. From ancient empires to modern administrations, the pattern remains identical. Leaders step onto the political stage with grand declarations, yet their actions rarely match their words. We see a recurring cycle of empty vows that leave everyday people disillusioned.

Greed Over Governance

The underlying issue is structural. Power tends to attract the wrong elements, resulting in systems that are corrupt, self-serving, and greedy. Instead of focusing on public welfare, many politicians prioritise their own survival and wealth. Wealth concentration often skews priorities, ensuring that decisions favour a tiny fraction rather than the whole population. In fact, a vast majority—often exceeding 90%—of political decisions seem driven by special interests rather than the common good.

A World of False Hope

This isn’t isolated to one country or ideology. Across the entire world, people face the same disappointing reality. As one historical observer noted, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” This rings incredibly true for modern politics. Governments operate as machines designed to protect themselves, making true accountability nearly impossible.

Why It Doesn’t Change

Leaders are sucked into ‘the system’ and become liars not by accident, but because ‘the system‘ rewards survival over honesty. Because these institutions are inherently flawed, they cannot offer genuine solutions. True change doesn’t come from a ballot box…. it begins when people look outside of broken systems for real hope.

a failing government
Expecting a political system to suddenly fix itself is a mistake. Human nature, when mixed with unchecked authority, consistently leads to deception.

It is easy to see why so many people feel let down by the political system today. We watch the news and see endless promises that are broken as soon as election season ends. For generations, we’ve put our faith in charismatic leaders, hoping they will fix our broken world. Yet, inflation rises by another 5% or 10%, prices soar, conflicts continue, and the deep divisions in society only seem to widen. It’s time to stop following politicians and put your trust in our Creator.

The Problem with Human Leadership

When we rely entirely on politicians, we are putting our ultimate hope in flawed human beings. Even those with the best intentions face immense pressure, corruption, and systemic limits. They are short-sighted, often focusing only on the next election cycle rather than the long-term good of humanity. The Bible reminds us of this truth… “Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation.” (Psalm 146:3) When we elevate leaders to the status of saviours, we set ourselves up for inevitable disappointment.

A Higher Authority

In contrast, trusting in our Creator offers a foundation that doesn’t shift with public opinion poll numbers. God doesn’t need to win votes, and He isn’t swayed by political donors. True peace doesn’t come from a new piece of legislation or a change in government… it comes from a transformed heart.

Choosing to step away from the political tribalism doesn’t mean you stop caring about your community. It simply means you stop expecting human systems to solve spiritual problems. When you anchor your life in the divine, you gain a sense of purpose that no politician can ever give or take away. Let’s stop looking to parliament or congress for answers, and start looking up.
