Knowing the truth can be invaluable…. Used wisely, it protects you from harm and contributes to lasting peace and security. This is especially true regarding what lies ahead for this generation.

In light of these facts, it’s clear that human efforts cannot bring true peace. Only God, through his Kingdom, can solve mankind’s problems. Isn’t it wise to align your life with this truth? (James 1:22) What does this actually require?

Living by God’s Standards

God sets specific standards for those who wish to enter his righteous New Order. Meeting these requires a complete transformation of our outlook. As Romans 12:2 states, “Quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

This shift changes how we determine right from wrong. Instead of relying on personal opinions or societal norms—which led Adam and Eve to reject God—we must look to the Bible. Psalm 119:151 notes, “All his commandments are truth.” Conforming to them means “walking in the way of the truth.” (Psalm 86:11)

Accepting Counsel and Correction

To change, we must acknowledge our shortcomings. The Bible reminds us that “there is no man that doesn’t sin.” (1 Kings 8:46) Yet, pride often stops people from admitting mistakes. Because human judgment is imperfect, we can easily be deceived into thinking a harmful path is acceptable. (Proverbs 16:25) Therefore, we need higher discipline…. Proverbs 3:11 urges, “The discipline of Jehovah, O my son, do not reject.”

God provides discipline through the scriptures and fellow believers. Accepting this correction shows we respect God’s right to guide us. Proverbs 4:13 emphasizes that our life depends on heeding divine instruction. Pretending to change while secretly continuing old habits only dulls our conscience. We cannot deceive God, for “the eyes of Jehovah are in every place, keeping watch upon the bad ones and the good ones.” (Proverbs 15:3)

Practising Complete Honesty

While many people don’t view themselves as dishonest, few consistently speak the truth. Satan, “the father of the lie,” misleads a world alienated from God. (1 John 5:19; John 8:44) Dishonesty destroys peace and trust in families, business, and daily life, creating a frustrating, vicious cycle.

Because lying causes severe harm, God detests dishonesty. (Proverbs 6:16-19) Unrepentant liars will not inherit God’s promises. (Revelation 21:8) The Bible explicitly commands, “Speak truthfully with one another.” (Zechariah 8:16; Ephesians 4:25) To represent “Jehovah the God of truth,” our words must be reliable. (Psalm 31:5; James 5:12)

Trusting God to Provide

Is it possible to make an honest living today? Yes. God has always cared for those faithful to him. As Psalm 37:25 reflects, the righteous aren’t abandoned. While material gain isn’t the primary goal of true worship, Jesus assured his followers that God knows their daily needs. (Luke 11:2, 3) He promised, “Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:25-34)

Contentment protects us from the trap of greed. 1 Timothy 6:6-8 reminds us that “godly devotion along with self-sufficiency” is great gain, as we brought nothing into the world and can carry nothing out. Chasing wealth leads to anxiety and loss, whereas trusting God brings true security. (Ecclesiastes 5:10; Luke 12:15)

Around the world, 10 million Jehovah’s Witnesses demonstrate that living by honest, godly principles works. Their integrity often earns them respect and dependable employment, along with a clean conscience. God is seeking people who “worship with spirit and truth” to preserve his New Order. (John 4:24) Loving the truth will set you apart from the world and align your life with God’s will.
