The World Feels Like It’s Falling Apart
The greatest threat to civilisation is not nuclear warfare or economic decline, but a slow poisoning of conscience and moral collapse from within. These spreading symptoms signal that the world’s foundations are rotting. However, by living according to the standards of God’s Kingdom, individuals can resist this darkness.
Symptoms of a Moral Sickness
- Erosion of the Family: Experts worldwide warn that the foundational institution of family is failing. With rising divorces and parents increasingly “parking” children in front of screens, a generation is growing up without deep roots or an understanding of steady, nurturing love (Hebrews 13:4).
- Abuse of Minors: Rampant child abuse and neglect by parents, public figures, and school staff signal a spiritual crisis. Society frequently looks away from these horrors, demonstrating a loss of basic humanity (Ephesians 6:4).
- Isolation and Greed: Modern routines foster isolation, which feeds depression and violence (Proverbs 18:1). Concurrently, corporate corruption, tax evasion, and theft have become common pastimes, proving that when greed becomes normalized, justice becomes rare (1 Timothy 6:9).
- Fading Compassion: As society loses its ideals, human hearts grow cold. Tragic instances of crowds ignoring a dying woman or mocking a self-harming individual reveal a profound lack of community empathy (Matthew 7:12).
The Kingdom Draws Near
These worsening conditions are not random; they are specific signs foretold in Scripture marking the “last days.” This moral collapse indicates the nearness of God’s Kingdom—a righteous heavenly government that will replace the current broken system and fill the earth with peace and justice (Psalm 72:8).
If this global decay troubles you, the Bible offers lasting hope. You can resist modern corruption and look forward to a world free from violence.
