Creation or Evolution?
Many people who reject the Bible accept the idea that life came from lifeless chemicals through blind processes. In that view, a simple self-replicating organism appeared first, then slowly gave rise to every species seen today. If that were true, the complex human body would have come from bacteria.
Many people who say they accept the Bible also follow evolution. They believe God began life on Earth, then watched over evolution and perhaps guided it. That is different from what the Bible teaches.
According to the Bible, Jehovah God created the basic kinds of plant and animal life, along with a perfect man and woman who could think, love, and act with wisdom and justice.
Change within kinds
The kinds of plants and animals God made have changed over time and have produced many variations within their own kinds. In some cases, the results look very different from one another. Even so, that fits the Bible account of creation.
A Creator seen in creation
In the nineteenth century, a British biologist who accepted evolution by natural selection is said to have recognised that careful observation of nature points to intelligence and conscious direction, in other words, to a mind behind it all.
Long before that, the Bible said that God’s invisible qualities can be seen from the world He made. When you pause to think about the wonders of nature, from a blade of grass to the countless bodies in the heavens, the evidence of a Creator becomes clear.
The Bible also speaks about suffering, the future of the Earth, and God’s purpose for mankind. These subjects have often been hidden beneath human ideas and religious agendas, so many people have never seen the whole picture.
